Barkham County is the northen limit of Kham, and the language here is almost unintelligible to the Amdo populations and the Khampa peoples. The dress is distinctive. There are more than 55 monasteries in the whole region of Barkham, Aba, Dzamtang.etc, which represents the Gelukpa, Sakyapa, Jonang, Ningma and Bonpo traditions. Some of those monasteries have great locations of being close to the attractive mountains of Nyenpo yurtse. This trip takes us onto the Tibetan plateau to its northern edge to study the Tibetan religion.
